Jane grew up in the New York City area where, as a Fine Arts major in college, she received her first formal training in art. Her artistic pursuits were put on hold while raising a family but she took it up again several years ago, exploring the mediums of oil, pen & ink with ink wash, pen & ink with watercolor, and recently, acrylics. Experimenting further with these mediums, she has developed a light, whimsical style in drawing and painting a variety of subjects.
For the East Colony Fine Art theme show, “Painting Like the Old Masters,” she executed a pen & ink/watercolor painting in the Grandma Moses style. She put her grandchildren, family pets, husband and herself into a Grandma Moses-like landscape and gave it the title “At Gram and Pop’s in Summer.” It was described as delightful and whimsical. Prints were made to give to her family and several sold through the gallery. She has since drawn and painted other subjects in this style and accepts commissions.
See this and a variety of her other work on view in the gallery.
