Karen is an intuitive artist, creating colorful paintings mostly from her meditative visions using a palette knife exclusively. The best description that Karen has found for her art is Abstract Fantasy Art. Fantasy art is entirely about the imagination or the things that have developed the way you dreamed them. Karen has always been creative but felt like she was searching to find her true calling. After trying alot of other creative endeavors over the years, she finally convinced herself to take a painting class in the fall of 2009. She loved mixing colors but using a brush and trying to paint she felt like a fish out of water. In January of 2010, she tried using a palette knife which finally brought the painter in her out. The palette knife felt like an old friend to her. She finds it relaxing and it allows her artwork to flow freely. Next she realized she needed to paint from her visions and dreams. Her visions come when she gets quiet and tunes out the noise of every day life. The visions come as split second flashes and then are gone. However, she’s training herself to bring the visions back so she can expand and develop these visions further into paintings. Karen’s goal when painting is to allow her intuition to guide her to capture the essence of her visions. To show it’s beauty and connection to the universe, to draw you into the painting and mesmerize you. To create an emotion and inspire you for a moment in time. Karen thrives on the use of color and has a fascination with our universe and swirling tendrils that always seem to be a part of her art and her.
Karen is a member of the Manchester Art Association and the League of NH Craftsmen.
