Artist Michelle has always been the creative type. Throughout the years, she has explored various mediums and techniques to express her passion in what she sees around her. She discovered mixed-media was a great way to marry all these elements together. It is a great way for her to see how common everyday objects can be combined together in a unique way to create something uncommon and beautiful. Michelle also teaches art in an afterschool school program at the middle school level. She uses the same philosophy with her students to get them thinking outside the box. Art is about using what you have on hand in combination with your imagination to fuel the creative process. There are no limits to what you can do. Michelle grew up in Dover, NH and went to the University of New Hampshire. She graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in studio art. While there, she focused mostly on drawing and sculpture. At the same time she took many education courses in the hope of teaching. After UNH, she took graduate courses at Franklin Pierce College to finish up her teacher certification credentials, which she received in 1998. She continued to expand her art experiences by taking colored pencil and oil painting under the guidance of Jeanne Lachance. In the last year and a half, multi-media collage work has taken over as her area of concentration. Michelle also remains focused in art education. Her Middle School curriculum at the after school program is a source of great pride. From this program many great opportunities have been offered to her and her students. Michelle resides in Goffstown with her husband and two children. She is very excited with her new journey exhibiting her work at East Colony Gallery. She is also currently a member of the Women Caucus for the Arts.
